Artifacts are special items that have separate form and function. These can be classified into natural and man-made or artificial and can be used for various purposes. Let’s take a look at the different types of artifacts that can be used to decorate your homes.
1. Metal/iron: You can decorate your homes with old antique tools, weaponry, toys made from wire, large size door handles, hinges, old jewelry with ethnic touch etc.
2. Glass: Antique bottles, vases and flower pots made out of glass can be used to add glamour to your home.
3. Ceramic: Kitchenware such as crockery and other decorative objects are included in this category. Ceramic items sport a variety of surface treatments and forms.
4. Faux leather and hide: If leather is your style, there are plenty of faux leather and hide options available in the market.
5. Stone and wood: If you are interested in stone and wood, there are endless possibilities on offer such as sculptures, wall motifs, plant impressions on stone and sculptural rocks of different shapes and sizes. These are mainly found during the excavation process of ancient sites and categories. Such treasures can be displayed near staircases, on landings, sit-outs and living rooms.
6. Timepieces: These play a vital role in enhancing the decor of a house. You will be spoilt for choice with popular designs that span a variety of styles, colours and materials.
7. Mirrors: Very ornamental to fuss-free; steel to wood; framed and frameless... mirrors come in different shapes, patterns and sizes. In addition to frames, you can choose various decorative treatments on the mirrors themselves.
8. Lamps and lights: These can transform your room into a seamless combination of functionality and style. When hung from the ceiling, the adjustable necks and lamps can highlight specific elements, such as a wall painting, a vase of flowers on an entryway table or the bar top or kitchen island. Special picture and mirror frames with built-in lighting can be used to highlight specific areas on a wall. Additionally, you can have recessed lighting on the floors and ceilings to create vertical beams of light as opposed to an overall glow from central light fixtures hanging from a ceiling.
