The summer season is on and it is that time again where you need to spend time to refresh your interiors catering to the needs of the season. Parushni Aggarwal, Founder & Creative Director, Studio CREO, guides you with important tips to add life to your living room.

  1. Furniture: An elegant living room doesn’t require a lot of furniture in it. Opt for a sofa that can be used in different seasons. Include a coffee table, side tables, contrasting coloured chairs and poufs/ottomans to give the space a desired look.
  2. Accessories: This really adds life and personality into the space. If you have the budget, you can change other accessories like the window treatment, rug, lights and pillows. These small changes can make a big impact to a living area.
  3. Colours: Do not underestimate the power of colours. To give an airy feel to your living room, use sofas in muted colours like whites, beiges, pale grays, camel, and blush pink. These colours make the space look bigger with pop coloured cushions placed on it and sheer curtains on the windows. Since green is the pantone colour of 2017 and also gives an earthy tone to the makeover, go for it and combine it with mellowed tones of yellow or white which perfectly complements green as well as make your space look lively and bright.
  4. Lights: Instead of heavy curtains, add sheer curtains. Replace your regular curtains with sheer to make them look luminous. They create a breathing space in the room by bringing in some much- needed sunshine. If you do not have enough windows in the living room, you can use shades of white to create light in the room. The other idea of creating light and space in the room can be achieved with full height mirrors on the wall. If you have an open kitchen visible from the living room, opt for appliances in matte look which gives a subtle and comfortable look for summers.
  5. Expert guidance: It is always a better idea to take expert advice on redoing the space as the changes should last for a long time and experts can advise you on how can your changes last until the next season.
  6. Budget: Always keep a budget in mind before you redo your space for any season. This makes it clearer for the person to think about what can be done to get the best out of the effort.
