No matter how severe the digital storm might be, it has still not hit the minds of book lovers who still fantasize to have a collection of their favourite books stacked in the beautifully designed library at their place. Samira Chopra takes you through simple tips to keep in mind for your home library.
- Space: If there is quite a lot of space, it’s better to invest in big shelves, but in case you have a small space all you need to do is invest in a small bookshelf and add some comfortable furniture around it. In case the width is limited, don’t hesitate to explore the vertical space of the room.
- Display: While designing a library space at home, organize books in such a way that you can easily find the books without any confusion. The best method is to arrange books alphabetically.
- Lighting: Ditch bulbs and lights during the day. Ensure that the space gets ample sunlight during daytime.
- Storage: Bookshelves are not just limited to store books. You can also use these shelves to display artifacts in the room. Invest in bookshelves with hidden drawers or racks if they have a large number of books that cannot be put on display.
- Furniture: Library is not just about having books stacked in bookshelves, but it’s also about having a place where you can have access to your favourite books. Other than spending money on buying proper shelves, you could keep some amount aside to purchase good and comfortable furniture like bean bags, saddle seats, and kneeling chairs.
